Install CURL on OpenVMS VAX 7.3

CURL for OpenVMS VAX 7.3

1) Login to an administrative account or the SYSTEM account on your OpenVMS VAX 7.3 server

2) Download the following four pieces from the listed sources, or just grab the OpenVMS backup saveset CURL-OPENVMS-73-INSTALL from my google drive that has all four installers in it. The backup saveset is also available over HECNET from my FAL server at QCOCAL::[.SOFTWARE-DOWNLOADS].

From the HP official FTP server ftp.hp.com (use a proper FTP client):

- /pub/openvms/ssl/CPQ-VAXVMS-SSL-V0101-B-1.PCSI-DCX_VAXEXE
- /pub/openvms/kerberos/HP-VAXVMS-KERBEROS-V0200-11-1.PCSI-DCX_VAXEXE

From VMS Ports official website:

- VMSPORTS-VAXVMS-73-CURL-7_47_0.ZIP
- VMSPORTS-VAXVMS-ZLIB-V0102-8-1.ZIP

3) Run the first two PCSI-DCX_VAXEXE executables in turn. This will create standard PCSI files which you can install using PRODUCT INSTALL *. Remember to follow the instructions from the installer, especially adding entries to SYS$MANAGER:SYSTARTUP_VMS.COM, SYS$MANAGER:SYSHUTDOWN.COM and SYS$MANAGER:SYLOGIN.COM.

4) Unzip the two VMSPORTS-VAXVMS ZIP files. Again, This will create standard PCSI files which you can install using PRODUCT INSTALL *. Remember to follow the instructions from the installer, especially adding entries to SYS$MANAGER:SYSTARTUP_VMS.COM, SYS$MANAGER:SYSHUTDOWN.COM and SYS$MANAGER:SYLOGIN.COM.

5) Define symbol for CURL in SYS$MANAGER:SYLOGIN.COM, including the --insecure switch which allows you to curl https web sites as well as http ones.

6) Logout and log back in. Typing in "CURL www.domain.com" should now display the source HTML for the domain on your terminal.
